Ericeira, since 2011
Two people, one bay,a lot of foam dust.
Saltline started as a repair bench behind a bakery and grew into a shaping room with a rental shed attached. We still do both: everything in the quiver was made here, and every board that comes back with a ding gets fixed here too.

How a board gets made here
Roughly ten days from blank to water, depending on the weather and how the resin behaves. We do not take on more than four customs a month — the rental quiver comes first.

- 01
The blank
A block of EPS or polyurethane arrives on the pallet. We draw the outline in pencil, by hand, straight onto the foam — no shaping machine, no file to send off.
- 02
Plane and screen
Bottom contours and rail bands come off with a hand plane, then a screen to blend the tuck. This is the part that decides how the board turns, and it takes as long as it takes.
- 03
Glass
Two layers of cloth on the deck, one on the bottom, laminated in the back room. Resin is mixed by weight, not by eye. Cedar stringers are cut and glued in the jig.
- 04
Sand and water
Sanded to 400, hot-coated, then ridden by whoever shaped it. Nothing joins the rental quiver until one of us has had a proper session on it.
